Wonderful minerality Hardly any other grape variety has experienced such a resurgence in recent years: Furmint is the oldest variety in the region and has been grown here for more than a thousand years. This Furmint presents itself as a true classic: it has a soft lemon-yellow color, the nose is reminiscent of a vineyard in bloom with ripe apples and pears – juicy, elegant and inviting. On the palate, the fruitiness gives way to wonderful minerality and a pleasant saltiness. What is surprising is the intense aroma, which despite the moderate acidity lasts a long time (with hints of dried herbs) and never gets boring.

Maturity: by 2025. Currently at its peak, but this will continue for at least five years, maybe even a little longer.

Full of character and typical of the variety This year had an early harvest: the unusually warm spring allowed the vines to bloom early. A hot and dry summer followed. We had heavy rains in early September, which forced us to harvest the early grape varieties quickly. The rest of September was more favorable again: dryness and warmth allowed the grapes to ripen perfectly. A vintage that is characterized by notable acidity and low alcohol – full of character and typical of the variety.

Otto Zitko

Otto Zitko

Born in 1959 in Linz, 1977 to 1982 attended the University of Applied Arts in Vienna withHerbert Tasquil and Peter Weibel, lives and works in Vienna. He has received numerous awards for his work, including the Msgr.Otto Mauer prize, the City of Vienna's Prize for Fine Arts and the Culture Prize for Fine Arts of the State of Upper Austria. Otto Zitko's roots are in the loose movement of the “New Wild Ones” with his expressive abstract oil paintings. Since the 1980s, Otto Zitko has been concerned with drawing as a means of painting which, coming from oil painting, he does not consider as a preparatory sketch or study of painting, but as “drawing, arguing from the point of view of painting.” Otto Zitko's work always goes hand in hand with a change in the image medium as well as the drawing and painting material. It includes early, pasto-painted oil on canvas pictures, soot and reverse glass work, wooden panels, large-format aluminum panels and numerous location-related wall works. The paper image medium accompanies his entire work and spans an arc from the early narrative and subtly worked drawings to large-format, gestural sheets. His gestural, chaotic, rhythmically superimposed lines, tangle of lines and mesh has become characteristic of Otto Zitko. They can be small-sized on paper or other image media, rough, delicate or ornamental. You will also encounter them in large and mega format, partly filling the space in the form of temporary installations or permanently in well-known public places.
